Some parents have expressed a concern for extra practice on the skills we are learning in class. I have created an assignment in Study Island that will provide this additional practice. To access this information students will need to log on to Study Island with their usual username followed by .pitt and then use their usual computer password. This assignment will be available until Dec. 18. I will continue to update extra practice assignments on Study Island each month.

Science- We will continue our discussion of food chains and food webs in an ecosystem
Social Studies: We are discussing NC's natural resources and how they impact our lives. This week we have been talking about waterways of NC. We have discussed how rivers were the roads for early settlers and that many of the early cities of NC were established near a waterway. We also talked about the Graveyard of the Atlantic and the importance of Lighthouses along our coasts. Students had the opportunity to research lighthouses of NC and made posters, flip books, trading cards, and google slides to display their information.
In Science we have been discussing animal adaptations and how they help animals to survive in their environment. We have moved on to discussing ecosystems and the parts of the ecosystems and how the parts interact. Students know the difference between abiotic and biotic factors and the roles of producers, consumers and decomposers. Next on the agenda is discussing food chains and food webs and the flow of energy in an ecosystem. |
